Moody Picks Up Postseason Honors

JACKSON, Miss. - Junior Stefan Moody has been named to the All-SEC first team by the league's coaches the conference office announced Tuesday.
A two-time SEC Player of the Week honoree this season, Moody is tied for the lead in the SEC in scoring in league games at 18.6 ppg. He ranks sixth in the nation and leads the conference in free throw percentage at 91.2 percent and leads the SEC averaging 2.0 steals/game in conference play.
He is the first Rebels to earn first-team honors since Chris Warren in 2011 and the 13th All-SEC selection in nine years under Andy Kennedy, which is the third most in the league during that stretch trailing only Kentucky and Florida.
Moody was also named to the U.S. Basketball Writers Association All-District IV team the media organization announced Tuesday. Moody is one of ten honorees named to the squad consisting of players the states of Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Mississippi and Tennessee.
Junior Martavious Newby was named to the SEC Community Service team for his work the local community. Newby has help hold basketball clinic for local Boy's and Girl's Club, participated in `Move Mississippi' to promote combat child obesity by educating youth and parents about the benefits of physical fitness and living a healthy lifestyle and volunteered at local community food bank. He also visited children at a local preschool to talk about importance of education and physical activity.
The Rebels open SEC Tournament play on Thursday at 8:30 pm against the winner Wednesday's night Missouri-South Carolina game.
