Schiavone Named SEC Player of the Week

OXFORD, Miss.-- Ole Miss women's golf senior Stani Schiavone (Bangor, Pa.) was honored Wednesday as SEC Player of the Week, as announced by the conference office in Birmingham.
Schiavone earned the honor for the first time in her career after finishing atop the leaderboard at the Samford Intercollegiate this week, where she fired a career best 7-under par 65 in route to the win.
She recorded her third top-five finish in the tournament while claiming her first collegiate win. The senior from Bangor, Pennsylvania joins her teammate Abby Newton (Katy, Texas) as the only two Rebels to earn medalist honors this season.
Schiavone's third round 65 is the lowest 18 hole score by a Rebel this season, and the team win in the Samford Intercollegiate is the first since Ole Miss won the Johnie Imes Invitational in 2008.
