BIRMINGHAM, Ala.
-- The Ole Miss women's golf team continued play in the SEC Women's Golf Championship Saturday at Greystone Golf and Country Club in Birmingham, Alabama.

Ole Miss fired a second round 307, putting them in 14th place with one more round to go at the Legacy Course.

"I'm proud of the way this team digs and fights," head coach Michele Drinkard said. "We need to carry that mindset all the way through until the last putt has been holed."

Leading the way for Ole Miss was senior Stani Schiavone (Bangor, Pa.) who fired a 2-over par 74 putting her tied for 29th going into the final round. Anchoring her round was a pair of birdies and a streak of seven holes at par or better.

"I played a solid round that had some positives and areas of improvement," Schiavone said. "I hit a lot of greens today, and that really helped me."

Drinkard is pleased with what she's seeing from senior, who has been steady all season.

"She is really striking the ball well this weekend," Drinkard said. "We're just waiting for a few more putts to drop for her."

Also having a good weekend is freshman Sofia Idoyaga (Buenos Aires, Argentina) who's making her SEC Championship debut.

"It's really exciting being here," Idoyaga said. "I try to forget how big a tournament it is and give my best out there. I'm learning to be patient on the course regardless of what happens."

Idoyaga fired a 4-over par 76, and Drinkard is happy with the development of her freshman from Argentina.

"Sofia has really embraced this championship and has learned so much about competing," Drinkard said. "I look for her to continue her improvements tomorrow in the final round."

The final round of the SEC Championship will get underway tomorrow at 10 a.m. in a shotgun format. The Rebels will be paired with players from Missouri and will be teeing off from holes 16, 17 and 18. Fans can follow live scoring here.
