Rebels Travel to Georgia, Tennessee

OXFORD, Miss. -- After a close battle with No. 15 Texas A&M last Sunday, the No. 26 Ole Miss Women's tennis team is on the road this weekend to take on No. 5 Georgia and Tennessee.
The Rebels and the Bulldogs are set to square off at 4 p.m. CT at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex in Athens, Georgia. Sunday's match against the Lady Vols will start at 12 p.m. CT at the Goodfriend Tennis Center in Knoxville, Tennessee.
"We are looking forward to a great SEC road weekend," head coach Mark Beyers said. "I am curious to see how the girls will rebound from that hard fought loss to Texas A&M this past Sunday. I thought we played well and I am hoping we can take some confidence from that fact into the matches versus Georgia and Tennessee this weekend."

The Rebels (11-8, 3-7) won the doubles point and senior Julia Jones won her 98th career match, but the Aggies secured straight set wins at five and two to tie the match, before winning 6-4 in the third at six to take a 3-2 lead. With the Rebels up 4-0 in the third set at No. 4 singles, all eyes were focused on court three and the battle between freshman Natalie Suk and A&M's 77th-ranked Saska Gavrilovska. Suk led 4-2 in the final set, but Gavrilovska won four straight games to clinch the victory.
Scouting Georgia ...
Georgia (15-4, 8-1), who is currently ranked No. 5, returns home to Athens after three back-to-back wins on the road against Missouri, Arkansas and Tennessee to increase their win streak to six. The Bulldogs are led by lone senior Lauren Herring, who is currently ranked No. 8 and holds an 11-2 record at No. 1 singles and is 5-1 in the SEC. Freshman Kennedy Shaffer was named SEC Freshman of the Week and is 11-5 overall, 7-1 in the SEC.

Georgia leads the all-time series 36-8. The Rebels last win in the series came in 2012.
Scouting Tennessee ...
The Lady Vols (10-11, 2-7) are coming off an upset win against No. 45 Arkansas at home. The team is led by senior Joanna Henderson who is currently ranked No. 113 in the nation in singles and is ranked No. 45 with partner Caitlyn Williams in doubles.
Series ...
Tennessee owns a 26-16 lead in the all-time series. The Rebels beat the Lady Vols 5-2 last year in Oxford.
100 Watch ...
Senior Julia Jones who is currently ranked No.14 in the nation, picked up her 98th win when she knocked off No. 32 Rachel Pierson of Texas A&M 6-3, 6-3 at No. 1 singles for her 25th win of the year. Jones improved to 7-3 in the SEC. She needs just two wins to become the seventh member of the 100-club in singles.
National Rankings ...
The Rebels are ranked No. 26 in the latest ITA National Rankings. In the singles rankings, senior Julia Jones is ranked No. 14, freshman Arianne Hartono is ranked No. 54, freshman Natalie Suk is ranked No. 107 and junior Mai El Kamash is ranked No. 120.
