OXFORD, Miss. -- Danielle Gray, an athletic forward/defender at Kennesaw State the past two seasons, has transferred to Ole Miss and will be eligible to compete with the Rebels in the 2015 season this fall, head coach Matthew Mott announced on Friday.
"We're very excited to add Danielle Gray to our 2015 team," Mott said. "She was a captain on her team and she is a talented, physical player. She's played as both a forward and center back, and we like her in both positions. We're not sure where we'll play her here, but she's an athletic forward and a tough defender. She adds depth, experience and leadership to our squad and we can't wait to get her on campus."
Gray just completed her second full season of competition with the Owls at Kennesaw State this past season after redshirting her second year due to injury.
In the 2014 season, Gray started all 20 games on the back line and played a team-leading 1,762 minutes for the Owls. She tallied five points on the season, notching two goals and an assist as Kennesaw State advanced to the championship game of the Atlantic Sun tournament.
The 2013 season saw Gray play in five games before suffering an injury and receiving a redshirt year.
As a freshman in the 2012 season, Gray was named as a selection to the All-Atlantic Sun Freshman Team and once earned Atlantic Sun Player of the Week honors. She started all 19 contests for the Owls, one of only four players on the squad to start every game.
Gray finished second on the team in points with 19 as she scored eight goals and three assists. Seven of those points came in conference play as she tallied three goals and an assist. She also led the team with three game-winning goals on the season.
