Rebels Add German Standout
7/31/2015 | Men's Tennis
OXFORD, Miss. - Ole Miss men's tennis has a history with German tennis players producing excellence on and off the courts. The latest to become part of that tradition is Fabian Fallert, who will join the program this fall, head coach Toby Hansson announced Friday.
"I am thrilled that Fabian will suit up in red and blue this fall," Hansson said. "Fabian is a diligent worker that wants to challenge himself to become the best he can be. Fabian's mentality and impressive skillset will be essential additions to the team as we look to continue our tradition of success."
A native of Lichtenstein, Germany, Fallert achieved a career-high ranking of No. 59 in the ITF World Junior Rankings and No. 106 in the German men's rankings. He has won the German Junior National Singles Championship three times as well as the Doubles Championship three times.
"Fabian's dedication both on and off the court align perfectly with our team dynamic and goals," Hansson said. "We look forward to welcoming him to our Rebel family."
Fallert was a member of the German Junior Davis Cup Team, who placed fourth and the under 16 European Summer Cup Team, who finished runner-up. He competed in the Australian Open Junior Championships in singles and doubles, has won several ITF singles and doubles titles, including Grade 4 Nurnberg in singles and the Grade 1 doubles in Berlin and finished runner-up in the Grade A doubles in Mexico City. Fallert also won an ITF Futures doubles tournament in Schwieberdingen.
Fallert, who plans to major in accountancy, joins Rebel All-Americans Matthias Wellermann, Marcel Thiemann, Chris Thiemann and Jonas Lutjen to hail from Germany.
