West Delivers in Second Round of Carpet Captial Collegiate

ROCKY FACE, Ga. - Junior Noah West carded a 1-over par 73 to lead Ole Miss in the second round of the Carpet Capital Collegiate Saturday.
The Tupelo, Mississippi native finished the last three holes with two birdies, and is tied for 22nd with a two-day score of 149 after yesterday's opening round 76. Ole Miss is 12th overall with a two-day team total of 606.
"It was a very disappointing day for sure," said Ole Miss head coach Chris Malloy. "We had a lot of momentum going early in the round and just fell apart. That happens with a young team sometimes, and we need to figure out a way to right the ship.
"Noah (West) really saved us from having an even worse day. He is hitting the ball extremely well."
Freshman Braden Thornberry bounced back from his first round 85, posting two birdies en route to a 3-over par 75 and is tied for 68th overall. Junior Ben Wolcott posted a 77 after yesterday's opening round 73 and is tied for 31st. Freshman Beau Briggs carded an 85 Saturday, while senior Forrest Gamble posted an 86.
"These guys will bounce back for sure," Malloy said. "There is no doubt in my mind. We just need to learn from our mistakes and be better tomorrow."
