Ole Miss Finishes Second at Memphis Intercollegiate

Final Results
MEMPHIS, Tenn.--The Ole Miss women's golf team finished as the runner up in the Memphis Intercollegiate behind the host Memphis Tigers Tuesday.
"It feels great to have a strong finish today," head coach Kory Henkes said. "It was our best round of the tournament and I am proud of the girls for learning from their mistakes yesterday in order to post a better score today."
Senior Abby Newton (Katy, Texas) had the best finish for Ole Miss finishing tied for sixth after posting a 73-73-76--222 for the tournament.
The best Rebel performance of the day came from junior Madisen Bentley (University Place, Wash.) who carded a 2-over par 73, countering a few hard holes with four birdies.
"Overall I played well today," Bentley said. "I had two bad holes that cost me, but I kept my head up and was able to come back from those mistakes with some birdies."
"Madisen had a few double bogeys so she fought hard to make some great birdies and hang tough throughout the day," Henkes said.
Veteran Alison Hovatter also had a strong day carding a 3-over par 74. Her round was anchored by three birdies and nine pars.
Henkes is pleased with the effort from her senior.
"Ali is such a great competitor," Henkes said. "She really works hard and wants to do the best she can for her team. She made better course management decisions today and had those birdies which led to her 74."
The Rebels hit the road again next Monday when they head to Walcoh, Colorado for the three-day Golfweek Conference Challenge.
