OXFORD, Miss. - The Ole Miss soccer team has been named a recipient of the National Soccer Coaches Association of America Team Academic Award for the 2014-15 academic year. Announced by the NSCAA Wednesday afternoon, the award honors all teams with a cumulative GPA of 3.00 or higher during the 2014-15 academic year.

The Rebels received the award for the fifth straight season and the 11th time in program history. As a team, Ole Miss posted an impressive cumulative GPA of 3.71 during the 2014-15 year, which was the highest in the SEC by a substantial margin. South Carolina had the second-highest GPA in the conference with a cumulative 3.48 as a total of 11 SEC teams made the list.

"It is always exciting to receive this award," said head coach Matthew Mott. "This is a great honor developed by the NSCAA to recognize academic achievement. Our girls not only work hard on the field, but in their studies as well, so it is nice to see their academic achievements featured in the form of an award."

Ole Miss returns home this weekend to continue grinding through SEC play. First, the Rebels host Alabama Friday night before facing LSU two days later, Sept. 27. Both matches will take place under the lights of the Ole Miss Soccer Stadium, beginning at 7 p.m. CT. As usual, all Ole Miss home games will be available on SEC Network+.
