Notable Returnees
The team will be led this year by junior Alison Weisz (Belgrade, Montana). In 2014 Weisz qualified for the NCAA Championships in air rifle and last year she made it in smallbore. Weisz led the team with a season average of 572.8 in smallbore and set the school record in smallbore with a 589. Another player to look out for is sophomore Jessica Haig (Constableville, New York). Haig led the Rebels in air rifle as a freshman, with a 585.7 average. Additionally, she posted a season-best 591 vs. Navy last year.
Notable Newcomers
The Rebels welcomed several newcomers to the team this year, including freshman Harley Gardner (Bellville, Texas). Although she may be new to the team, she is someone the coaches expect to contribute. Prior to Ole Miss, Gardner took first place in 3-position smallbore and 4-position smallbore at the NRA Sectional Championships in 2014. Gardner also got first place in standing air rifle at the NRA Sectional Championships and first place at the Texas Junior Olympic Qualifier.
Talking with Head Coach Valerie Boothe
"We are excited to start the season. The team has been working hard in the short time since classes started. They are ready to put forth their best effort."
