Rebels in Birmingham this Weekend for Futures

OXFORD, Miss. â€" As the fall season starts winding down for the Ole Miss men's tennis team, two members are in Birmingham, Alabama this weekend for the USTA Futures at the Highland Park Tennis Center.

Rebels in the Magic City
Sophomore Filip Kraljevic and freshman Tim Sandkaulen will begin play in singles qualifying Friday. The qualifying runs through the weekend with main draw action beginning Monday. Kraljevic owns a 5-3 record this fall in collegiate competition after reaching the quarterfinals of the ITA Southern Regional with a win over the No. 26 ranked player in the nation. Sandkaulen is 6-5 and he reached the quarterfinals of the ITA Southern Regional as well.

The field
The Birmingham Futures will feature a mixture of collegiate and professional tennis players, as the tournament begins with a 128-player qualifying draw that leads into a 32-player singles main draw.

History at Birmingham Futures
The Rebels have had recent success at this Futures stop on the calendar. Two years ago, Stefan Lindmark and All-American Gustav Hansson reached the main draw and last year, Filip Kraljevic qualified for the main draw with some impressive wins in qualifying.
