Post Game Quotes: Kentucky
12/29/2016 | Men's Basketball
Ole Miss Head Coach Andy Kennedy
On the game...
"The tone of the game was set by their speed in the open floor. They were just running by us in transition, and then, we just lost composure. Maybe the game was too big. Maybe we had some guys who were just not ready for a game like this. Every team has a formula for success. Kentucky has one. We have one. We didn't follow our formula very well and as a result we dug an early hole and started playing desperate basketball. That's too good of a team to play desperate against."
On Edrice Adebayo...
"He's a big strong kid who had good touches around the basket. We were giving him too good of looks. Obviously, superior players will play well when given the opportunity. We were trying early to change our defenses on misses and makes. We were trying to get into that 1-3-1 to build a wall so Fox couldn't drive the floor. We just weren't on top of our game to give ourselves a chance."
Kentucky Head Coach John Calipari
On the game...
"We played really well today. The first half is as well as we've played all year. Then they came back at us in the second half. I was a little bit upset with some of my guys. That's just because we got sloppy. What I'm trying to do with my team is discipline, we've got to have discipline. You saw the second half when I went crazy because it's not the score, it's whether the defense or offense has discipline, which we didn't have. It was a good road win."
On the team...
"If you come to our practice, we're working everyday and it's a process. What we're trying to get them to do doesn't always happen in games. They revert back to what they know and what they've been doing their whole lives. (Malik) Monk, I had to get on him after he started with the step-back, but I thought he played well. De'Aaron Fox started the game so well. Then in the second half, there just wasn't the energy.
