Rebels Sit in 12th After Day Two at Clover Cup

MESA, Ariz.- Led by junior Madisen Bentley (University Place, Wash.) and senior Alison Hovatter (Merdianville, Ala.), the Ole Miss women's golf team sits in 12th place after 36-holes at the Notre Dame Clover Cup.

Bentley and Hovatter each holed two birdies and both carded 3-over par 75s to lead the Rebels on Saturday. Junior Maria Toennessen (Grimstad, Norway) wasn't far behind, carding a 4-over par 76.

"I had a decent back nine but I struggled a little on the front and didn't finish like I would have liked," Bentley said. "I'm looking forward to a strong finish for this team tomorrow. We've been working hard and we're due for a great day."

Hovatter also acknowledged some struggles during the round but is also eager for the third round.

"Today I started out a little rough but fought all day to finish at 3-over for the day," Hovatter added. "We can easily move up the leaderboard tomorrow as a team if we focus on what we can control such as our attitudes and routines."

Senior Abby Newton (Katy, Texas), playing as an individual, posted three birdies on the day on her way to a 6-over par 78.

The Rebels will tee off at 8 a.m. MT/10 a.m. CT in a shotgun format and will be paired with players from Nebraska and Tulsa.
