Gielo Named To SEC Community Service Team

OXFORD, Miss. - Ole Miss senior forward Tomasz Gielo has been named to the 2015-16 SEC Community Service team, the league office announced Friday.
Gielo, who is pursuing a master's degree in criminal justice at Ole Miss, an active participant in a variety of team community service projects in the Oxford are. A regular visitor to the Oxford Boy's and Girl's Club to help mentor local youth, Geielo helped organized basketball clinic for local Boy's and Girl's Club to educate youth on the benefits of physical fitness and living a healthy lifestyle.
The Szczecin, Poland native also participated in `Reading with the Rebels' program, which sends Ole Miss student-athlete to area schools to read to children and promote literacy several times throughout the year.
This marks the 18th year for the SEC Community Service Team for men's basketball as well as for women's basketball. All 21 league sponsored sports have had a Community Service Team since 2004, with at-large teams for men's and women's sports being chosen from 1999-2003. The SEC began this concept with a football Community Service Team in 1994.
The mission of Ole Miss' Student-Athlete Development program is to challenge student-athletes to be lifelong learners while pursuing continuous improvement academically, relationally, socially, personally, and professionally during and beyond their careers as student-athletes.
Student-Athlete Development is the hub for a wide range of Ole Miss athletics sponsored programs designed to meet the needs of student-athletes and their families. It is divided into six areas: Student-Athlete Assistance Services, Career Development, Continuing Education, Community Outreach, Financial Education and Career Transition.
