OXFORD, Miss. - In the latest Oracle/ITA National Rankings, 10 conference teams are ranked in the top 30, so it's always good when you can get at least split on an SEC weekend. The No. 26 ranked Ole Miss women's tennis team did just that, taking down Tennessee 4-1 Sunday afternoon at the Palmer/Salloum Tennis Center.
The Rebels struck first winning the doubles point. Natalie Suk and Tea Jandric dominated again, downing Tennessee's Kim Kermet and Brittany Lindl 6-1 at No. 2. Zalina Khairudinova and Marija Milutinovic clinched the point, defeating Ashley Boles and Tiffany Tavares 6-3 at No. 3.
Ole Miss won four first sets in singles, but Tennessee's Eve Repic defeated Suk 6-3, 6-3 at No. 2 to briefly tie the match at 1.
Khairudinova finished off a 6-3, 6-1 win against Lindl at No. 5 singles to make it 2-1 Rebels. Moments later, senior Mai El Kamash followed with a 6-3, 6-2 win against Kermet at No. 3 singles. Seconds after the Rebels went up 3-1, Jandric closed the door against Mary Caroline Meredith 6-4, 6-1 at No. 4 to clinch the 4-1 victory.

Quoting Head Coach Mark Beyers…
"Wins are so hard to come by in the SEC this year. Every team is good and every team is capable of beating the other. To get a win under your belt early is always nice. If you get a split every weekend in the SEC, you're going to be top 15 in the country."
On Tennessee…
Tennessee is a very young, talented and well-coached team. They're going to get their wins. We took care of business and won three singles in straight sets. The other matches that didn't finish we were up at one with Ari, and Marija was about to force a third set at six. Overall, a great team effort today."
Next Up…
The Rebels travel to Baton Rouge and College Station next weekend to face LSU and Texas A&M.
