Rebels Drop Match to Georgia in SEC Championship

COLUMBIA, S.C. - After a four-hour rain delay, the Ole Miss men's tennis team's SEC Championship quarterfinal match against top-seeded Georgia was pushed indoors to the USC Field House.
With only four courts the match began with singles first. Georgia got a quick win at No. 3 singles as Paul Oosterbaan defeated Rebel freshman Grey Hamilton 6-2, 6-1.
The Bulldogs added to their lead with straight set wins on courts two and one. Senior Stefan Lindmark lost to 35th-ranked Wayne Montgomery 6-4, 6-3 on court two, and then sophomore Gustav Hansson dropped his match to 17th-ranked Austin Smith 6-2, 7-5 at No. 1.
Georgia closed out Ole Miss on court four, as Walker Duncan won two tight sets against Rebel freshman Fabian Fallert, 7-6(1), 6-4.
Zvonimir Babic got his first set at five, 6-2 and was 1-1 in the second, while Vinod Gowda trailed 3-1 in the first at six.
Notables…
• Ole Miss is now 15-10 overall and will wait for the NCAA announcement on May 3.
• Gustav Hansson is now to 24-10 overall, 16-6 in dual matches and 4-2 at No. 1 singles.
• Stefan Lindmark dropped to 19-13 overall, 13-9 in dual matches.

"Georgia was better than we were today. We played and competed well at a few spots but it was not enough."
Up next…
The announcement for the NCAA Championships will take place May 3. That is when the Rebels will learn their postseason destination.
