OXFORD, Miss. -- Throughout the summer, OleMissSports.com will check in with Rebel alums on the pro circuit.
A career-high in doubles for both Nik Scholtz and Tucker Vorster and a runner-up finish in the Lexington Challenger for the duo highlight our latest #RebsOnTour update.
Rebels in current ATP Rankings...
Nik Scholtz - The four-time All-American is up to a career-high 321 in singles and jumped up 225 spots in doubles to a career-best 485.
Tucker Vorster - Vorster sits at 378 in singles and also made a nice jump in doubles, up 93 spots to 365.
Jonas Lutjen - The two-time All-American is ranked 583 this week. He has been playing league matches in Germany the past few weeks, and is scheduled to return to the pro circuit next week at the Futures in Wetzlar, Germany.
Runner-up finish for Vorster/Scholtz in Lexington...
This past week, Nik Scholtz and Tucker Vorster teamed up in their first challenger together to reach the doubles final at the Kentucky Bank Tennis Championships. The South African duo were going for their eighth professional title together after seven Futures titles. However, they lost to the fourth-seeded duo of Luke Saville and Jordan Thompson (AUS) 6-2, 7-5. In the second set, the Australian pair served for the match at 5-4, but Scholtz and Vorster broke back for 5-5. The Australians served out a quick game to take a 6-5 lead and force Scholtz and Vorster to serve to stay in the match. The Aussie tandem broke at love to secure the match and the title.
