Rebels Ready for ITA Southern Regionals

OXFORD, Miss. -- A berth in the Oracle/ITA National Fall Championships will be on the line this weekend as members of the Ole Miss men's tennis team compete in the ITA Southern Regional Championships in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
Play begins Thursday at 8 a.m. at the LSU Tennis Complex and concludes Oct. 23 with the finals of singles and doubles.
The competition...
The field includes players from SEC members Alabama, Auburn, LSU and Mississippi State. Also joining the tournament are Jacksonville State, Nicholls State, Samford, South Alabama, Southern Miss, Troy, Tulane, UAB, UL-Lafayette and UNO.
Rebel participants...
Zvonimir Babic, Fabian Fallert, Grey Hamilton, Filip Kraljevic, Tim Sandkaulen and Cotter Wilson will make the trip. Senior All-American Gustav Hansson is not participating this weekend, as he already booked a spot in the Fall Championships with a quarterfinal showing at the All-American Championships.
Rebels in action Thursday...
Louisiana native Cotter Wilson will begin action in the qualifying Thursday at 9 a.m. against Toby Lentz of Nicholls State.
The rest of the team will get underway Friday and Saturday. The German duo of Tim Sandkaulen and Fabian Fallert will team up for the second time in a collegiate event on Saturday. Grey Hamilton will team up with Wilson and the Croatian duo of Zvonimir Babic and Filip Kraljevic will reunite on the courts after playing with different partners most of last year.
Rebels at Regionals...
Ole Miss had a successful stay at the ITA Regionals last year in Auburn, Alabama. Fabian Fallert and Grey Hamilton teamed up to win the doubles title. The Rebels had three players reach the quarterfinals in singles with Gustav Hansson defeating Tim Sandkaulen to reach the semifinals.
