BATON ROUGE, La. -
Freshman and Louisiana native Cotter Wilson of the Ole Miss men's tennis team is one win away from joining his teammates in the main draw at the ITA Southern Regionals after picking up two wins in qualifying Thursday at the LSU Tennis Complex.

Day one a success for freshman…
Wilson, who hails from Shreveport, Louisiana and was the No. 1 ranked player in the state as a junior player, downed Toby Letz of Nicholls State 6-2, 6-1 in the first round and then defeated fifth-seeded Federico Boscarino (UNO) 6-3, 4-6, 6-2 in the second round.

Courtside with assistant coach Devin Britton…
"Cotter put in some good work today. The effort he puts in every day in practice is really starting to show. First round of qualifying this morning was just quality tennis from start to finish. In the second round in the afternoon, he got off to a great start but had to find his way through some tough times in the end. I am proud of him for getting it done. Tomorrow is going to be a great test for him. He has a lot of tennis on the schedule, but I believe he is ready for it."

Friday's schedule…

Final round of qualifying
Cotter Wilson vs. Joaquin Vallejo (Jacksonville State) 9 AM

First round of main draw
Filip Kraljevic vs. Qualifier - 1 PM
