Rebel Duo Reaches Semifinals at ITA Regionals

BATON ROUGE, La. - Ole Miss will be playing on the final day of the ITA Southern Regional Championships for the second consecutive year, as Zvonimir Babic and Filip Kraljevic advanced to the doubles semifinals Sunday with two wins.

Sandkaulen ends run in quarterfinalsâ€¦
Sophomore Tim Sandkaulen suffered his first loss of the year (7-1) in the quarterfinals of singles. After dropping the first set to the top seed and 13th-ranked Constantin Schmitz (Tulane) 6-2, Sandkaulen battled back in a tight second set. Schmitz hung on to win a tiebreaker 7-6(6) for the win.

Doubles times twoâ€¦
Both of Ole Miss' doubles teams reached the quarterfinals and then Zvonimir Babic and Filip Kraljevic won again to advance to the semifinals. In the round of 16, Babic and Kraljevic dominated Olivier Gingras and Lucas Gonzales of South Alabama 8-1. In the quarterfinals, Babic and Kraljevic defeated Constantin Schmitz and Ewan Moore of Tulane 8-5 to set up a semifinal meeting against Thibault Cancel and Alexey Nesterov of Alabama Monday at 11 a.m.

Teammates Tim Sandkaulen and Fabian Fallert won their third-round match against Jamie Fraser and Arthur Libaud of Louisiana 8-4, before falling to Cancel and Nesterov 8-3 in the quarterfinals.
