SEC Release

OXFORD, Miss. - The Southeastern Conference announced its 2017 Community Service Team on Thursday, with Ole Miss midfielder Courtney Carroll among the 14 players recognized by the league.

Each year, the SEC sponsors Community Service Teams for all 21 league sponsored sports. The team looks to highlight an athlete from each school who gives back to their community in superior service efforts.

See below for Carroll's contribution to the community over her four-year career as a Rebel.

Courtney Carroll
Since stepping on campus in Oxford four years ago, midfielder Courtney Carroll has been a shining example of the impact a student-athlete can have in his or her community. When she's not seen out on the pitch, Carroll can often be seen around the Lafayette County area doing her part. This year, the Davidson, North Carolina native spent approximately 50 hours at the Oxford Lafayette Humane Society, working with other volunteers to improve the plight of lost, unwanted, abandoned and homeless animals. Whenever the Ole Miss Athletics department sponsors an event, you can be sure to see Carroll there, including Reading with the Rebs, The Big Event and Women in Sports Day. Carroll has also used her off days to spend some time with the local youth in the community, participating in Walking Wednesday at Oxford Elementary School numerous times throughout her collegiate experience. The senior has used her soccer prowess to give back to her community, volunteering her time to many local youth teams in the area.
