Ole Miss Holds Steady in Eighth at MountainView Collegiate

TUCSON, Ariz. â€" The Ole Miss women's golf team remained in eighth place after the second round of the MountainView Collegiate.
The Rebels followed up a team score of 296 in Round 1 with a 299 in Round 2, tying them for eighth after 36 holes.
Senior Madisen Bentley set the pace for Ole Miss in Round 2, shooting an even-par 72. The University Place, Wash. native was 2-under par early on but hit a rough patch midway through the round, falling to 2-over. But she recovered brilliantly with two birdies and six pars in her final eight holes to make par.
"I made a couple of mental mistakes that cost me, but I am proud of how I came back," Bentley said. "I'm striking the ball well, so I just need to keep giving myself opportunities."
Sophomore Martina Flori finished one stroke behind Bentley at 1-over (73). Flori endured a few tough holes early in the round and strung together four birdies in an eight-hole span for a strong round. The Montecatini Terme, Italy native was a team-best 2-under on the front nine.
Junior Katy Harris followed up a 1-over Round 1 with a 3-over Round 2 and is on the cusp of the top 25 going into the final round.
The Rebels are fifth in the field with 24 birdies, and Ole Miss is also tied with tournament leader Arizona with the fifth-most pars with 113.
Ole Miss will tee off at 9:30 a.m. CT Sunday for the final 18 holes.
