OXFORD, Miss. - In a physical battle with numerous opportunities, Ole Miss and No. 23 Michigan played to a 1-1 draw in double overtime Friday night at the Ole Miss Soccer Stadium.

It was Michigan (2-0-1) who got on the board early in the contest, before a couple of unlucky sequences resulted in near goals for the Rebels (2-0-1) in the first period. But, Ole Miss struck 11 minutes into the second half to knot it at 1-1, in what would be the final tally for the night.

The Wolverines posted their only score at the 6:16 mark, when a corner came in from the near side, and Taylor Timko headed it into the far corner for a 1-0 advantage. Ole Miss had a huge opportunity in the 22nd minute when Liza Harbin had a throw in from the near side, Julia Phillips knocked one off the crossbar from 10 yards out, then Ella Johnson's header off the deflection went wide left.

Nine minutes later, Mary Kate Smith sent a pass into the box, when Gabby Little's header hit the post and deflected out. The score would remain 1-0 for the remainder of the half, where the Rebels held a 7-4 shot advantage.

Ole Miss broke through at the 56:12 mark, when Johnson sent a header in to Little, before her initial header hit the crossbar, but she collected the deflection and headed it just across the line to knot it up, 1-1. Play turned a little choppy down the stretch with a yellow card issued to either side, but neither team would strike again forcing overtime. Both the Rebels and Wolverines saw a few chances in extra time, but both defenses prevailed securing the 1-1 draw.

The Rebels finished with 19 shots on the night, including a team-high five from CeCe Kizer, who put three on target. Ella Johnson had four and recorded the lone assist, while Little posted three attempts. Both sides took nine corners, and goalkeeper Marnie Merritt made three stops in goal.
