Three Questions With Team 32

8/31/2017 | Women's Golf

Aug. 31, 2017

We asked the nine Rebels on the 2017-18 Ole Miss women's golf team three questions: If you could pick any three people (alive or dead) to join you for a round of golf, who would you choose? What is one aspect of a teammate's game that you admire? What is your favorite course in the world that you've played?

Here are their answers:

Martina Flori, Junior
Montecatini Terme, Italy

If you could pick any three people (alive or dead) to join you for a round of golf, who would you choose?
"Rory McIlroy, Jason Day and my best friend who plays golf at Florida, Carlotta Ricolfi...And with Rory, maybe we might have a date after we play, I don't know."

What is one aspect of a teammate's game that you admire?
"I would love to have Kie's self-confidence on the golf course. She's really confident."

What is your favorite course in the world that you've played?
"I've played at Prestwick Golf Club in Scotland, which is where the first Open Championship was played, so it's a very historic course. It was fun."

Laura Hoskin, Senior
Arrowtown, New Zealand

If you could pick any three people (alive or dead) to join you for a round of golf, who would you choose?
"Donald Trump on one of his golf courses so we could drive on the green with his golf cart. I would say Barack Obama, but that would be a little too political, so I'm going to say the Queen of England and Miley Cyrus."

What is one aspect of a teammate's game that you admire?
"I wish I were as fiery as Marti. When I miss a putt, I'm like, 'Dang.' But when Marti misses a putt, she's yelling who knows what in some foreign language. I'm a boring golfer to watch. Marti is fun to watch."

What is your favorite course in the world that you've played?
"Jack's Point in Queenstown, New Zealand. It's 360-degree views all around with a lake and beautiful mountains. It's the eighth wonder of the world."

Katy Harris, Junior
St. Simons Island, Georgia

If you could pick any three people (alive or dead) to join you for a round of golf, who would you choose?
"My dream foursome would be Tiger Woods, Michelle Wie and Jason Day."

What is one aspect of a teammate's game that you admire?
"Personally, I'm a very competitive player, so I like playing with Marti, and I like her competitiveness the best just because we can vibe off of each other."

What is your favorite course in the world that you've played?
"My favorite course is probably Trump National in Bedminster, New Jersey. They just recently had the U.S. Women's Open there this past year. Even though I didn't play very well when I went, because I was a lot younger and it's a really tough course, I still really loved it"

Kie Purdom, Junior
Lexington, Kentucky

If you could pick any three people (alive or dead) to join you for a round of golf, who would you choose?
"My grandmother, my grandfather and my mom. They taught my mom how to play golf, and my mom taught me. My grandparents have both passed away, and I never got to play golf with them-so I would love to be able to."

What is one aspect of a teammate's game that you admire?
"Whenever Marti wants to make something happen, she does. If she wants to have four birdies in a row, she does. She just makes it happen."

What is your favorite course in the world that you've played?
"There's this little public course in Lexington, Kentucky called Kearney Hills. It's just fun to play. I played it growing up in junior golf and one of my high school tournaments was there."

Julia Johnson, Freshman
St. Gabriel, Louisiana

If you could pick any three people (alive or dead) to join you for a round of golf, who would you choose?
"I feel like you have to say Tiger, so for sure Tiger. Then my dad, because if I ever played in a foursome with Tiger and didn't take my dad, I would die. So Tiger, my dad and Macy Holliday."

What is one aspect of a teammate's game that you admire?
"Marti's passion for the game-I love it. It motivates me and inspires me. Definitely Marti's passion and love for the game."

What is your favorite course in the world that you've played?
"My favorite course would have to be English Turn (New Orleans). I just have fun on that course. I go out there and genuinely enjoy those four hours."

Macy Holliday, Freshman
Dallas, Texas

If you could pick any three people (alive or dead) to join you for a round of golf, who would you choose?
"Jordan Spieth, Taylor Swift, Shea Patterson and I."

What is one aspect of a teammate's game that you admire?
"Julia Johnson's wedge game. Anywhere within 100 yards, she's right by the flag, and I wish I had that."

What is your favorite course in the world that you've played?
"Ridgewood Country Club in Ridgewood, New Jersey. I played the 2016 U.S. Girls' there, and it was the nicest course I've ever played, and the people there were really good to us."

Conner Beth Ball, Freshman
Madison, Mississippi

If you could pick any three people (alive or dead) to join you for a round of golf, who would you choose?
"I love basketball, so Steph Curry, Charles Barkley and 2000 Tiger-in his prime. Those three men, and I would have the best time playing out there."

What is one aspect of a teammate's game that you admire?
"One awesome thing about our team is that we have a lot of fun out there, and we're all playing our best when we're having fun. Julia is a really strong competitor out there. I love that about her. She's very mentally tough and confident."

What is your favorite course in the world that you've played?
"Pinehurst No. 2. My dad and I went for a tournament during the Fourth of July, and we just had the best week there. I played really, really well. I actually shot 2-under at Pinehurst No. 2, so just to be with my dad and to be able to do that was super fun."

Diane Lim, Junior
Suwanee, Georgia

If you could pick any three people (alive or dead) to join you for a round of golf, who would you choose?
"Lydia Ko, Rory McIlroy and Tiger Woods."

What is one aspect of a teammate's game that you admire?
"I really want Pi's distance. She hits it super, super far."

What is your favorite course in the world that you've played?
"I played a course in Oregon called Sunriver. It's up in the mountains. There was ice and snow up on the mountains still, and I had never played at a course that scenic in my life, so I really like that one."

Pi-Lillebi Hermansson, Sophomore
Djursholm, Sweden

If you could pick any three people (alive or dead) to join you for a round of golf, who would you choose?
"My two best golf friends Beata and Johanna, because I always have fun with them. Then I would have Seve Ballesteros because I would want to see him do magic."

What is one aspect of a teammate's game that you admire?
"I would choose Marti because her strength is what I'm working on, increasing my greens in regulation. I'm trying to reach her numbers on that."

What is your favorite course in the world that you've played?
"My home course Stockholms Golfklubb, because it feels like my second home. I love spending time there."
