OXFORD, Miss. - Another offensive explosion kept Ole Miss soccer unbeaten on Friday night as the Rebels pushed past High Point with a 5-0 victory.

It was two early scores within the first 10 minutes that gave Ole Miss (4-0-1) the early advantage, while three late goals sealed the victory and the Rebels' fourth shutout in five outings.

The clean sheet came thanks in part to a dominating effort from the back line, allowing only two shots from the Panthers (2-3). Offensively, the Rebels had a 2-0 lead at the break, before pouring it on with three scores in the last 10 minutes of play.

It was Mary Kate Smith who struck left-footed at the 4:38 mark to give Ole Miss a 1-0 lead off a CeCe Kizer assist. Just five minutes later, Sophie Dineen launched a ball from the far sideline about 45 yards out, when it deflected off the leaping goalkeeper and snuck in for the second goal.

That score held up until the 80th minute, when Molly Martin punched one in off an assist from Gabby Little, her second score of the year. Little, not even a minute later, went solo from the far side of the box and beat the keeper left to increase the lead to 4-0.

Kizer went left-footed from around the 18-yard box with less than a minute left to seal the scoring at 5-0, keeping the unbeaten season intact.

High Point managed only two shots all night, only one of which was on target, while the Rebels kept up the pressure with 21 attempts, including nine that were on goal.

Kickers

  • Ole Miss posted five-plus goals for the third time this season, now one better than the entire 2016 total.
  • Staying true to the theme thus far on the young season, five different Rebels scored, including a career first from freshman Sophie Dineen.
  • Junior CeCe Kizer posted her team-leading sixth goal of the season and also dished out an assist, pushing her point total to 14 on the year.
  • Goalkeeper Marnie Merritt had to make only one stop in goal all night, delivering Ole Miss its fourth shutout in five outings, already matching the 2016 season total of shutouts.
