Ole Miss puts seven shooters in top 10
WEST POINT, N.Y. – Host and No. 10 ranked Army edged No. 16 Ole Miss rifle, 4656-4649 at the Tronsrue Marksmanship Center on Sunday. The Rebels placed seven shooters in the top 10, but could not overcome the 1-2 punch of Army's Clayton Hanson and Payne Nunn.
Hanson and Nunn, who both fired at the 2018 NCAA Rifle Championships, led all shooters with aggregates of 1176 and 1172, respectively. Abby Buesseler (1165), Jillian Zakrzeski (1162), and Randi Loudin (1160) rounded out the top five in the Great America Rifle Conference match.
Evenly matched in smallbore…
The Black Knights outshot Ole Miss by just one point, 2299-2298 in the first event of the day. Hanson and Nunn tallied identical scores of 582. Loudin paced the Rebels with a season-high 579. Buesseler (576), Zakrzeski (573), and Cuozzo (570) also recorded counting scores. An impressive five of the eight Ole Miss shooters' scores improved from Saturday.
Army pulls away in air rifle…
The hosts used big air rifle totals from Hanson (594), Lauren McMahan (591), and Nunn (590) to claim the top-three spots in air rifle. Army won the event, 2357-2351 even though Ole Miss placed four through nine. Buesseler and Zakrzeski recorded scores of 589 behind Nunn. Hayley Carroll (587) and Harley Gardner (586) added to the total.

The Rebels return home to host No. 9 Navy at the Ole Miss Rifle Range next Sunday, Oct. 21. The match will begin at 9 a.m. CT and donuts will be available to the first 35 fans.
