Ole Miss Head Soccer Coach Recaps LSU, Previews Kentucky and Mississippi State

Ole Miss Soccer Head Coach Matt Mott met with members of the media on Monday as part of his weekly press conference. Coach Mott recapped Thursday's loss at LSU before previewing this week's matches against Kentucky and Mississippi State.

Opening statement…
"First, congratulations to Coach Luke and the football team on a very exciting win over Arkansas. We went to Baton Rouge last Thursday to play LSU and lost 3-1 in a strange match. I thought we came out and played really well in the first half and were up 1-0 at half time. Then, LSU came out with a ton of energy and took it to us in the second half. We did not play particularly well in the second half. Made some mistakes that we had not made in a long time. We came back, went through the film with the team and had great practices on Saturday and Sunday. We are off today and then back at it again tomorrow and Wednesday. Then, we head to Kentucky to play a Kentucky team who is at the bottom of the league, but who is certainly still a dangerous team. They have one of the fastest players in the league up front, and they have been tight in a lot of games. So, it is a very big game for us. We are still trying to qualify for the SEC tournament. I am not sure if anyone has qualified completely yet, but if we can get some points against Kentucky that would put us really close if not in with three games left. Obviously, a massive match on Sunday against Mississippi State for the Magnolia Cup. We play for the Magnolia Cup every year and we have had it for the past five years. That is a big game. Their RPI is 10 in the country. They are looking for points and are three points behind us right now. They play Arkansas on Thursday so Sunday will be a very big game. We are looking for a huge crowd. We are doing it as a powder blue game, we want people to wear powder blue. We are trying to get the fraternities and sororities to come out for that one. It is a national TV game on ESPNU. So, we want a big crowd as we face off against the Bulldogs who are a good team. They are ranked nationally and they will be a handful for us. Our team is looking forward to it knowing that it is a big week with six points out there for us."
