Men's Tennis Wraps Day 1 of ITA Regional

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. –The first day of the 2018 ITA Men's South Regional is completed for Ole Miss Tennis, with two Rebels advancing to the final rounds of Singles Qualifying in freshman Karlo Kranic and sophomore Finn Reynolds.
Kranic, the top seed in the draw, and Reynolds each received a first-round bye and began things in the second round.
Kranic defeated Tulane's Eric Wagner 6-3, 6-3 and will face an in-state foe Thursday, taking on Southern Miss' Tom Cecchetto, who earlier defeated opponents from both Jacksonville State and Auburn, at 11 a.m.
Reynolds carries a 9-16 seed and rallied from a 4-6 first set to triumph over Jiaqi Duan (Troy) 6-2, 6-4. He faces Samuel Serrano of South Alabama Thursday, also slated for an 11 a.m. serve.
Rookies Simon Junk and Jan Soeren Hain were each successful in their opening rounds of qualifying with victories over league foes, but dropped their second rounds of play.
After also earning a first-round bye, senior Fabian Fallert, another 9-16 seed, battled through the second round, falling in a grueling 3-6, 7-6(3), 7-6(3) match to Louisiana Lafayette's Pearse Dolan.
Freshman Sebastian Rios and sophomore Cotter Wilson each dropped their opening rounds, moving into the singles consolation draw where they proved victorious. Each will continue through the flight, beginning at 9 a.m. Friday.
Also beginning Friday is the first round of the Main Doubles flight, however all three Rebel duos earned byes and will not compete until Saturday.
