Rebel Attacker One of 10 Finalists in Division I Women’s Soccer
OXFORD, Miss. – After being named one of 30 candidates for the 2018 Senior CLASS Award roughly a month ago, CeCe Kizer has advanced as one of 10 finalists for the prestigious award.
The award process now moves on to a fan vote to help select the winner, with voting accessible through the link provided above. Fans may vote one time per day through Nov. 18.
To be eligible for the award, a student-athlete must be classified as an NCAA Division I senior and have notable achievements in four areas of excellence: community, classroom, character and competition.
An acronym for Celebrating Loyalty and Achievement for Staying in School®, the Senior CLASS Award focuses on the total student-athlete and encourages students to use their platform in athletics to make a positive impact as leaders in their communities.
Kizer, the SEC's lone representative, has been one of college soccer's most dangerous attacking forces ever since stepping foot on campus in Oxford in 2015. The 2017 United Soccer Coaches All-American ranks second in the nation among active scorers with 47 goals. Kizer is Ole Miss' all-time leader in both goals and points (115).
The Overland Park, Kansas native has also excelled off the pitch, earning CoSIDA Academic All-American honors last season, while also spending what little free time is afforded to a Division I athlete working with local soccer organizations in the Lafayette County area. Kizer's complete candidate bio can be found at the link above.
The finalists were chosen by a selection committee from the list of 30 men's candidates and 30 women's candidates announced in September. Fan votes will be combined with media and Division I head coaches' votes to determine the winner. The Senior CLASS Award winners will be announced during the 2018 NCAA Men's and Women's College Cup® championships later this fall.
