Sophomore Defender Honored for Second Time in Her Career

OXFORD, Miss. – After scoring the game-winning goal in Ole Miss' 2-1 victory at No. 25 Clemson in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament on Saturday, Rebel defender Grace Johnson has been named to the TopDrawerSoccer.com Team of the Week.

It is the second time in Johnson's career that she has been selected to the TDS Team of the Week after earning the honor following week four of her freshman season in 2017.

As has been the case since the set foot on campus a year ago, Johnson was a stalwart on the Ole Miss back line, playing all 90 minutes at center back and helping the Rebels hold the Clemson offense to less than two goals for just the fifth time all season.

However, her biggest contribution may have come on the other side of the pitch. After Clemson had tied the match early in the second half, the Centerville, Utah native put the Rebels ahead for good in the 55th-minute rising up and heading in Haleigh Stackpole's corner kick service.

Johnson and the Rebels continue their NCAA Tournament run on Friday, taking on No. 1 Stanford on the road at 9 p.m. CT. The match will be streamed live on GoStanford.com.
