Rebels sign Swiss Standout
OXFORD, Miss. – Ole Miss head women's golf coach Kory Henkes announced on Friday the signing of Chiara Tamburlini to the Rebel golf program.
Tamburlini will come to Oxford from Saint Gallen, Switzerland, where she attends Liceo Locarno. She'll join the Rebels in the fall of 2019.
"Chiara brings a fiesty and competitive attitude that will be infectious on our team," Henkes said. "We have watched Chiara play in numerous international competitions over the past few years and she has continued to impress us with her ability to post some great scores.
Tamburlini was on the Swiss national team that competed at the European Girls Team Championship. In April of this year, she finished fifth at the Ticino Championship in Switzerland. Tamburlini followed that up with a fourth place performance at the Spanish International Stroke Play just a month later.
In May of 2017, she won the Austrian International Amateur at 6-under 210.
"She has been an integral part of the Swiss National team and I know she has the ability to be an impact player for Ole Miss," Henkes said. "Chiara is a steady player who hits the ball consistent and has a sharp short game. We look forward to Chiara being an Ole Miss Rebel."
