Senior Named to Second Team by the United Soccer Coaches
OXFORD, Miss. – For the second-consecutive year, Ole Miss senior CeCe Kizer has been named an All-American by the United Soccer Coaches. Kizer became the first player in Rebel soccer history to receive All-American status for the coaches' organization last season.
Kizer, a native of Overland Park, Kansas, landed on the second team as a midfielder. She is one of just nine players honored in 2018 to repeat as a USC All-American and one of nine representatives from the SEC.
Putting the finishing touches on the most prolific career Ole Miss has ever seen, Kizer scored 13 times during her senior campaign, adding nine assists along the way. She led the SEC in both categories during the regular season, becoming just the third player in league-history to do so.
In a season full of big moments, perhaps the biggest came in Ole Miss' victory on the road against No. 9 Auburn. Coming out of the half deadlocked with the Tigers, Kizer scored less than a minute into the second half to give the Rebs the lead, breaking the school-record for goals with the 45th of her career. Then, following an Auburn equalizer, the senior put Ole Miss ahead for good with an incredible run from beyond the midfield stripe through the entire Tiger defense, calmly finishing with the game-winning score. The goal was another milestone moment, setting Ole Miss' all-time career points record with her 110th.
In addition to setting school records for both goals and points, Kizer's 23 career assists is good for a tie for third-most at Ole Miss. The midfielder/forward finishes her time in a Rebel kit with three of the school's top-10 goal-scoring seasons. Kizer also owns two of Ole Miss' 10-best point totals for a season, while her nine assists in 2018 is good for a tie for sixth-most.
Kizer adds her second All-American award to a mantel that is running out of room. She is one of three players at Ole Miss to be named First Team All-SEC three times and one of just three Rebels to reel in USC All-Region honors for three seasons. In addition, she has been named CoSIDA Academic All-District back-to-back seasons and was tabbed as Ole Miss' first-ever First Team USC Scholar All-American in 2017. Additionally, earlier today Kizer was named the recipient of the prestigious Senior CLASS Award.
