Rebels Drop Tight Match at South Carolina

COLUMBIA, S.C. - The Ole Miss men's tennis team dropped a 5-2 match at South Carolina Sunday at the Carolina Tennis Stadium, that was closer than the final score.
The Rebels got the early momentum by winning a close doubles point. Tim Sandkaulen and Grey Hamilton won on court two 6-2 and then the freshmen duo of Cotter Wilson and Finn Reynolds clinched the point, 7-5 on court three.
South Carolina came out in singles and won four first sets to take back the momentum. They earned their first point when Reynolds retired in the second set of his match to Wood Benton on court six.
The Gamecocks went ahead 3-1 with straight set wins on courts three and two, before junior Filip Kraljevic defeated Harrison O'Keefe 6-3, 6-2 on court four to get the Rebels within one.
Wilson made it interesting when he rallied to win the second set on court five, as Sandkaulen was up a break at the start of his third set on court one. South Carolina went on to win the third set on court five to clinch and then pulled out a win in a third set tiebreaker on court one for the final 5-2 score.
