Thank You Rebel Nation

I knew that Ole Miss was the right place for me from the moment I stepped foot onto campus. I was really intrigued by the small campus feel and the family atmosphere that Rebel Nation provides. It is very common for a freshman to question their decision of attending a university; however, I never experienced a feeling of doubt.

I want to first thank my parents for giving me an opportunity to attend this university that is quite far from home. I realize that it was a difficult transition for them to leave me on my own over 1,100 miles away, and I do not want their support to go unnoticed. They have supported me throughout my entire shooting career, and I cannot thank them enough for helping me continue my dream.

I want to thank my head coach, Marsha Beasley, for coming into this program with eagerness and determined to improve the program. This kind of energy was what we needed to move forward. Marsha will drop whatever she is doing to help her athletes, and that is something I am extremely thankful for. Words cannot do justice in explaining how I feel about her impact on the Ole Miss Rifle program.

Thank you, Marsha, for the unlimited support and helping me grow on and off the range. Also, I want to take a moment and thank JP Lucas, assistant coach, for choosing to join this program. JP has been unbelievably helpful over the past year, and I'm excited to see the future success of this program under Marsha and JP.

I have received a tremendous amount of help from the FedEx Student-Athlete Success Center. I would like to personally thank Drew Clinton (academic advisor), Jessica Rizzi (Student-Athlete Enhancement Coordinator), and Jennifer Saxon (Assistant A.D. for Student-Athlete Development) for the unlimited amount of support and help throughout my four years at Ole Miss.

The FedEx staff has been an extraordinary resource for me, and they contributed to my success academically. Additionally, I would like to thank Josie Nicholson (sports psychologist) for being available whenever I was in need of someone to talk to. Sports psychology is very crucial in rifle shooting, and Josie has been able to assist me in learning how to be the best version of myself on and off the range.

Additionally, I want to thank Valerie Boothe, previous head coach, for providing me with the opportunity to shoot for Ole Miss Rifle. I cannot be certain that I would be here if it wasn't for her believing in me.

Rebel Nation, thank you for the support you have provided for my team and myself. Being an Ole Miss Rebel is an honor, and I would not be here if it wasn't for you all.

Thank you,

Jessica Haig
