OXFORD, Miss. - Ole Miss Rifle brought in seven freshmen at the beginning of the 2017-18 season, many of whom contributed to the team's success this year. Freshman, Abby Buesseler (Stacy, Minnesota) describes her first year in college with the Rebels.
Abby's Highlights
Highest Career Air Rifle Score: 594, Alaska-Fairbanks (1/19/18)
Highest Career Smallbore Score: 581, vs. Memphis (2/11/18)
Highest Career Aggregate Score: 1170, 4x, MR vs. Jacksonville State (2/17/18)
Favorite Moment
"My favorite memory this year was when our flight got delayed leaving for Ohio State in January. The situation may have not been the best, however it taught me how to be a good teammate. This time is also when my team and I learned that no matter the circumstances there is no reason to give up. After barely making it to the range before our match, we broke the school record. I know that trip is something we will remember for a long time."
On the Transition to College
"The biggest difference between who I was before college and who I am now is my passion for the sport of rifle. I loved rifle in high school, but college brought so many more elements into competing. The extra competition made my love for rifle grow even more."
Best Coaching Advice
"The best advice my coach has given me is to have fun. When I'm in a match, I perform my best when I'm having fun. Whenever my coaches remind me to have fun it helps me focus on the things that matter."
