OXFORD, Miss. - Ole Miss head soccer coach Matt Mott has announced the addition of Tennessee goalkeeper transfer Ashley Orkus. Due to NCAA transfer rules, Orkus will take a redshirt year in 2018 and will become eligible to play as a sophomore in 2019.

"We are thrilled to add Ashley Orkus to our team," said Mott. "She is an excellent goalkeeper, a great student and someone who I think will fit in perfectly with the culture of our team. Although she will have to sit out this upcoming season, she will certainly compete for the starting goalkeeper spot in 2019."

Orkus comes to Ole Miss after spending her first collegiate season at Tennessee in 2017. The Vestavia Hills, Alabama native appeared in four games for the Volunteers, not allowing a goal in 62 minutes between the posts. Ironically enough, Orkus made her first and only save of the season against the Rebels in Knoxville.

A U15, U17 and U18 US National Team Camp attendee, Orkus played her high school soccer at Vestavia Hills High School and wasn IMG Top-150 prospect for the 2017 class. She was also tabbed as an ECNL Southeast Conference Player to Watch and participated in the PUMA Women's Showcase.
