Briggs and Thornberry Tee It Up at Pebble Beach

PEBBLE BEACH, Calif. - A pair of Ole Miss golfers are set to travel out west to compete in this year's U.S. Amateur. Seniors Beau Briggs and Braden Thornberry will tee it up against some of the best amateur players in the world at Pebble Beach Golf Links August 13-19. Spyglass Hill Golf Course will co-host stroke play.

Briggs will tee off at 3:06 p.m. CT Monday afternoon, going off No. 10 at Spyglass Hill. Meanwhile, Thornberry's tee time is set for 4:09 p.m. CT at Pebble Beach alongside fellow Ben Hogan Award finalist Collin Morikawa. On Tuesday, the two Rebels will tee off in the morning with Briggs playing Pebble Beach (9:51 a.m. CT) and Thornberry playing Spyglass Hill (10:54 a.m. CT).

As the number one ranked amateur in the world, Braden Thornberry highlights the star-studded tournament field. Having qualified for the U.S. Open at Shinnecock Hills this past summer, Thornberry was one of 61 players who were fully exempt into the event. At last year's U.S. Amateur, he made it to the round of 32 after knocking off then-world No. 1 amateur Joaquin Niemann in the first round of match play.

Briggs will be making his first appearance in the U.S. Amateur. The All-American Scholar qualified after firing a 36-hole total of 136 (66-70) and winning a three-man playoff at Hattiesburg Country Club in Hattiesburg, Mississippi.

Forty-three of the top 50 players in the World Amateur Golf Rankings will be represented at the event, including No. 1 Thornberry. Entries were accepted from golfers in all 50 states, as well as 48 other countries.

Pebble Beach is hosting its fourth U.S. Amateur, where Spyglass Hill was a stroke play co-host in 1999.

Following two rounds of stroke play, the field will be cut to 64 for match play to determine the champion. The match play portion of the week will be televised on FS1 and FOX. From August 15-17, the rounds of 64, 32, and 16 will be on FS1, where the finals will be on FOX during the weekend.
