Ole Miss Prepping for Friday Friendly with Central Arkansas
OXFORD, Miss. โย Hitting the pitch for the first time last Wednesday, the Ole Miss soccer team is in the thick of its preseason preparation for the 2018 season, hitting the ground running with an experienced group that includes 16 returning letterwinners.
With nearly a full week of training under their belts, head coachย Matt Mottย has been pleased with what he has seen from his squad.
"Preseason camp is going very well," said Mott. "Having so many players that were here for the Spring, we were able to pick up right where we left off, which has put us way ahead of where we'd normally be. The three newcomers this fall have also done a great job of getting acclimated with the squad. I'm very happy with where the team is at at this point of camp."
With eight training sessions completed thus far, the Rebels will get their first crack at an opposing side on Friday at 7 p.m. when taking on Central Arkansas in a preseason exhibition at the Ole Miss Soccer Stadium. Friday's friendly is open to the public, with admission to all matches during the 2018 season being free of charge.
"We are excited for Friday's exhibition," said Mott. "I'm looking forward to learning more about who we are as a team."
The 2018 regular season kicks off one week from Friday, with Ole Miss welcoming Louisiana and WKU to Oxford for a pair of matches Friday and Sunday, respectively. The Rebels will compete nine times in all at the Ole Miss Soccer Stadium.
