Five Advance to Round of 64 in ITF Futures

LAGUNA NIQUEL, Calif. –The Ole Miss men's tennis team opened its 2018-19 campaign Friday, competing in the qualifying draw of the ITF USA F25 Futures Tournament. Five Rebels advance to the round of 64, where they will compete Saturday at the Laguna Niquel Racquet Club.
Junior Tim Sandkaulen, who made headlines earlier this week by earning a national ranking of 14 by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association, defeating former All-American and North Carolina standout Robert Kelly 6-7 (2) 6-2 6-0.
Joining him in the winner's bracket was veteran Filip Kraljevic, who defeated Alexis Alvaraz Varas (Mexico) 7-5 6-4. Freshman Jan Soren Hain was victorious over Nick Merten (Germany) 6-4 7-5, while classmate Simon Junk outlasted Boris Bokalav (Bulgaria) 7-5 6-2. Fellow freshman Karlo Kranic earned a bye and will also compete tomorrow.
