Four Rebels in the Top 15 as Storms Halt Play in Alabama

Suber Leads Ole Miss on Weather-Shortened Day One
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Severe weather once again impacted a round for the Ole Miss men's golf team as thunderstorms around Birmingham, Alabama, suspended play Monday afternoon at the Shoal Creek Invitational.
The Rebels shot a first round 288 and were close to finishing out its second round before play was halted. As a team, Ole Miss is in sixth place overall and four Rebels are in the top 15 heading into resumed play tomorrow morning.
Freshman Jackson Suber paced the Rebels on Day 1, firing a first round 2-under 70 and currently sits at tied for seventh.
Braden Thornberry, who won the 2017 Shoal Creek Invitational, sits tied for 11th with three holes to go on his second round.
Cecil Wegener, who got off to the hottest start of any player in the field with four birdies in his first six holes, is tied for 14th. The sophomore led the team in pars with 25.
Jack Gnam, in his first collegiate event, shot a first round 1-over 73 and leads the team with eight birdies.
Ole Miss' second round will resume tomorrow morning at 8 a.m. CT with final round play beginning immediately after.
