Women Wrap Up Opening Weekend at National Collegiate

Ole Miss remains out West, traveling to Hawaii for the Rainbow Wahine Invite
PALM SPRINGS, Calif. -- Ole Miss Women's Tennis concluded its opening weekend to the 2019 spring schedule Sunday, facing off in singles action of the National Collegiate Tennis Classic at the La Quinta Resort.
After rain suspended play Saturday, the Rebels returned to the court Sunday, led by junior Tereza Janatova's two victories in consolation play, winning 4-0 over UCLA's Alaina Miller retired due to injury. Janatova continued with the momentum, taking down San Diego's Sophia Chow 6-1, 6-2.
In main quarterfinal play, classmate Alexa Bortles slipped to the Toreros' Solymar Colling after dropping the opener 3-6 and fighting valiantly in a 5-7 second set.
Senior Allie Sanford also faced UCLA, falling 4-6, 3-6.
Bortles and Sanford were victorious during doubles play Saturday, triumphing over Arizona's Camila Wesbrooks/Marie Van Aelst 7-5.
