Men’s Tennis Sends Full Squad to All-American Championships

All seven Rebels will compete beginning Saturday, October 5
OXFORD, Miss. -- The first national event of the season begins this weekend for collegiate tennis, and the Ole Miss squad will send a full set of Rebels into competition at the Saint Francis Health System ITA All-American Championships in Tulsa, Okla.
Leading the way is senior Tim Sandkaulen, fresh off a prestigious Ragin' Cajun Classic title a week ago. The senior is ranked No. 25 in the country, and will have to wait nearly a week to swing in singles action, beginning in the main draw. He and partner Lukas Engelhardt will start in qualifying play of doubles, carrying a national ranking of No. 52 to the courts.
The rest of the squad, junior Cotter Wilson, sophomores Simon Junk, Jan Soren Hain, and Sebastian Rios, and freshman Nikola Slavic will begin their tournament in prequalifying for singles on Saturday.
The event returns to Tulsa for the 15th-consecutive season. Prequalifying lasts through October 5-6, followed by qualifying October 7-8, and main draw matches transpiring from October 9-13. All matches will be held at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center on the University of Tulsa.
In addition to vying for the All-American title, the Rebels will each be competing to secure a berth into the 2018 Oracle ITA National Fall Championships, taking place Nov. 6-10 in Newport Beach, Calif. Single quarterfinalists, consolation singles champion and finalist, along with doubles semifinalists and consolation doubles champion and finalist advance to the end of the fall national championship.
