Junk Looks To Advance to Round of 32 Sunday at All-Americans

Sophomore Simon Junk picks up two wins Saturday

TULSA, Okla. –Sophomore Simon Junk led the way for Ole Miss Men's Tennis on the opening day of the ITA All-American Championships Saturday at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center, held on the campus of University of Tulsa. 
 
The Marpingen, Germany, product advances to the Round of 64 in prequalifying singles action after picking up two swift decisions, surrendering just three games to Marshall Sullivan of Memphis in the opening round, and then followed that up with identical 6-4 wins against Garrett Johns of Duke. 
 
Freshman Nikola Slavic also picked up an opening round victory,  grinding through a 7-5 opening set before cruising to a win with a 6-2 second set.  
 
Sophomoe Jan Soren Hain dropped a heartbreaker, falling to Elio Lago of Wichita State in a grueling three-setter that saw the duo play through extra points in the third-set tiebreak. 
 
Junk continues with his All-American trek Sunday, facing Columbia's Alex Kotzen. Wilson, Rios, and Hain will look for redemption in the consolation rounds, also beginning Sunday.
