Rain Cancels Consolation Matches Sunday, Double Qualifying Draws Begin Monday
TULSA, Okla. – Rain was king in Ole Miss Men's Tennis prequalifying matches Sunday at the ITA All-American Championships, held on the University of Tulsa campus at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center.
Both the men's and women's consolation brackets were cancelled due to precipitation. Junior Cotter Wilson, and sophomores Sebastian Rios and Jan Soren Hain all had matches impacted and canceled by the weather.
After winning two matches on Saturday, sophomore Simon Junk dropped a hard-fought match in the Round of 64. He fell to Alex Kotzen of Columbia, 6-3, 6-3.
Junk will team up with Hain on Monday in the Qualifying Draw for doubles. They'll join the No. 52 ranked duo of teammates Tim Sandkaulen and Lukas Engelhardt. Junk and Hain will compete against the pair of Cutting/Stevenson from Memphis at 12:30 p.m., while Sandkaulen and Engelhardt, who carry a 9-16 seeding, will face off at 3 p.m. versus Cash/McNally of Ohio State.
Sandkaulen will also compete in the Main Draw for singles, beginning Wednesday.
