Jan Soren Hain Goes Perfect to Open CCB Collegiate Invitational

Men’s Tennis Sophomore Did Not Drop a Game on Friday
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Four Ole Miss men's tennis student-athletes opened play in the CCB Collegiate Invitational at the Country Club of Birmingham on Friday, highlighted by a perfect day from sophomore Jan Soren Hain.
Not only did Hain not drop a set, but he did not relinquish a single game in two matches to open the White Singles Draw. Hain took down Belmont's David Faulkner, 6-0, 6-0, and continued his flawless run by blanking Sebestian Collard of South Alabama.
In other singles action on Friday, freshman Lukas Engelhardt earned a hard-fought win in three sets over Kacper Dworak of Louisiana, 6-4, 5-7, 6-2. Engelhardt would run into another tough test but fall to Alabama's Jeremy Gschwendtner, 7-5, 6-3.
After a first-round bye, freshman Nikola Slavic faced Rossouw Norval of Samford. Norval outlasted Slavic in a back-and-forth match, 6-4, 1-6, 7-6(4).
Junior Cotter Wilson fell to ETSU's Dylan Bednarczyk 6-4, 6-3 to open the day. Wilson would then give the Crimson Singles Draw top seed in Akos Kotorman all he could handle. Wilson won the first set 6-3, but dropped the second set 6-7(7) in a tiebreaker. The Tulane product would claim the match 6-1 in the third.
Hain, who won twice in mid-October at the ITA Southern Regional the last time out, will challenge Henry Lovett of Tulane at 2 p.m. in the White Singles Draw semifinals on Saturday. Engelhardt, Slavic, and Wilson will also play afternoon consolation matches.
Two rounds of doubles play start Day Two, beginning at 9 a.m. as Hain teams up with Wilson. The freshmen duo of Engelhardt and Slavic will get play underway at the same time.
