Hain and Freshmen Duo Head to Finals Sunday in Birmingham

Trio of Rebels slated for draw finales Sunday
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- Ole Miss Men's Tennis tallied seven victories on the second day of competition at the CCB Collegiate Invitational, hosted by The Country Club of Birmingham and the University of Alabama.
The Rebels will send three into the finals Sunday, as freshmen Lukas Engelhardt and Nikola Slavic will compete in doubles and sophomore Jan Soren Hain remained perfect in the White Singles Draw.
Engelhardt and Slavic will play in the Crimson Doubles finale after an 8-4 victory over the draw's top-seed, Akos Kotorman/Tim Ruetzel of Tulane. This marks the second time the Rebel rookies have paired up, after advancing to the quarterfinals of the ITA Southern Regional in late October. Engelhardt and Slavic square off at 9 a.m., taking on UAB's Janko/Lusovsky.
Each also picked up a win in singles action, as Engelhardt outlasted Ruetzel in a 7-6(7) tiebreak after saving 10 set points in the second set and Slavic defeated Karlo Kajin from Louisiana, 6-4, 6-3.
After a flawless day Friday with two wins, Hain was dominant again with a 6-0, 6-2 victory. He will face Louisiana's Jamie Fraser at 10 a.m.
Also in singles play, junior Cotter Wilson grinded through two tiebreakers with Max Rebol of Samford 7-6(4), 7-6(3).
The pairing of Hain and Wilson split the day in the White Doubles Draw, picking up a swift 8-2 victory against Tulane before dropping their second contest of the day to conference foes Sam Fischer and Avi Shugar of Alabama, 8-4.
Hain and Wilson face off with Kajin and Fraser in a consolation match at 9 a.m., while Wilson, Slavic, and Engelhardt will all play in singles consolation matches following doubles Sunday.
