Women’s Golf Leads Heading into Final Round in Mexico

SAN JOSE DEL CABO, Mexico – The No. 13 Ole Miss women's golf team is in first heading into the final 18 holes at the Battle at the Beach in Cabo.
 
The Rebels fired a 10-under 278, the third-lowest single round total in program history, on Saturday to move into first place. Ole Miss has a two-round total of 4-under 580, one stroke ahead of No. 19 LSU. The Rebels are third in the field in pars (113) and birdies (28).
 
Ole Miss was one of just two teams in the field of 16 to go under par during the second round. Moving day saw the Rebels card 21 birdies while going 6-under on the par 3s and 2-under on the par 5s.
  
Conner Beth Ball moved up 23 spots into a tie for eighth overall thanks to a 4-under 68. The junior led the field of 87 in par 3 scoring on Saturday, going 3-under. Ball recorded six birdies, including two in her final four holes. Her 68 was the second lowest round of the day in the field.
 
Julia Johnson carded a 3-under 69 and is in a tie for fourth individually. The junior went under par on the par 4s (-1) and par 5s (-2) while recording the second most birdies in the field at six during the second round, tying Conner Beth Ball.
 
Johnson and Ball both birdied the par 3 2nd hole, which only saw seven players make a two on Saturday.
 
Kennedy Swann shot a 2-under 70 to move into a tie for 12th. Swann carded 13 pars, four birdies and a double bogey to move up 19 spots on the leaderboard.
 
Ellen Hutchinson-Kay shot a bounce back 1-under 70, the fourth Rebel in the starting five to go under par on Saturday.
 
Chiara Tamburlini, playing as an individual, is in first overall after 36 holes with back-to-back under par rounds. The freshman has a two-round total of 5-under (70-69—139) and is second in the field in both pars (26) and birdies (8).
 
Andrea Lignell is in 11th after a second round 2-over 74.
 
Final round is set for Sunday morning with an 9:15 a.m. CT shotgun start. Ole Miss will be paired with LSU, Virginia Tech, and TCU.
