Ole Miss fell in the championship round to Arizona
MONTGOMERY, Ala. -- A five-match win streak was halted Saturday for Ole Miss Men's Tennis (7-4), but not before the Rebels took down their second ranked opponent of the season in No. 16 Alabama (9-2) 4-2 in the semifinals of the Blue Gray National Tennis Classic.
The win propelled Ole Miss into the Championship held at Lagoon's Park Tennis Center in Montgomery, where they fell to Arizona (9-1) 4-1.
The victory was highlighted by a pair of ranked victories from veterans Tim Sandkaulen and Fabian Fallert at first and third singles, respectively. Fallert provided the Rebels with the clincher, just as he did with Ole Miss' first ranked win, coming against No. 20 Oklahoma State in early February.
Both were also ahead against Arizona before the Wildcats clinched and forced their matches to go unfinished.
