Women’s Golf Sweeps SEC Weekly Awards

Ball, Hutchinson-Kay Tabbed SEC Player and Freshman of the Week, Respectively
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Ole Miss Women's Golf swept the SEC weekly awards, the conference office announced Wednesday afternoon.
Conner Beth Ball and Ellen Hutchinson-Kay have been tabbed SEC Player and Freshman of the Week, respectively, after their performances at The Bruzzy. Both helped lead the Rebels to a runner-up finish in Texas, which included counting scores towards a program-record single round score of 12-under 276 on day one.
Hutchinson-Kay put together a career week going 69-74-71—214 at The Bruzzy and finishing in the top-10, moving up 13 spots on the final day to a tie for eighth. This marks the second time she has earned SEC accolades this spring.
The freshman's 2-under tournament performance made for a new career-low 54-hole total for her, and her first round 3-under 69 was a career-best 18-hole score. Hutchinson-Kay led the team in birdies with 14 and played the par-5's at 4-under throughout the week.
Ball matched Hutchinson-Kay for eighth individually, her eighth top-10 finish of her career and fourth this season.
The sophomore shot back-to-back 69's (-3), one of eight players to shoot under par both rounds on the 36-hole day. Ball was second on the team in birdies with 13 and was one of six players in the field of 84 to play the par 4's and par 5's under par for the week.
Ball, Hutchinson-Kay and the Rebels return to the course on Thursday, April 11, for the Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic in Athens, Georgia.
