Rebel Athlete Discusses First Full Season
OXFORD, Miss. – A trio of Ole Miss Rifle athletes competed as Rebels for the first time in 2018-19. Megan Taylor was one such freshman and she talks about what Ole Miss and Oxford mean to her.
"Ole Miss is a second family," Taylor said. "I love coming back to Oxford after a break because I know that it's home. I feel so welcomed anywhere I go and I enjoy everything that Oxford and Ole Miss have to offer."
Taylor, a product of Coleman, Texas, fired in 10 matches after redshirting a season ago. She earned personal bests of 567 in smallbore on Feb. 16 during the NCAA Qualifier, and tallied identical 582s in air rifle on Oct. 28 and Nov. 17.
The Biology major has found success in the classroom and has already been named a two-time CRCA Scholastic All-American. She also landed a spot on the SEC Winter Academic Honor Roll.
Rifle runs in the Taylor household as her brother, Nathan, competed for and graduated at the University of Alaska Fairbanks earlier in May.
The sport of rifle has also helped Megan improve more than just her aim.
"I have learned so much about myself and have grown into a stronger, more independent, and open-minded person coming to Ole Miss," Taylor said. "I am looking forward to the years to come!"
